Dead pixels in CMOS, or only in CCD's?

On the JVC GY HM700 forum there's a whole thread about dead pixels in the CCD's. They're not just present as a production flaw when the camera is new, but some pixels seem to 'die' during the use of the camera. I've never seen any in my Z7 or S270, but I wonder: is CMOS as prone to this effect as CCD? Can our pixels 'die' too?

If so, the JVC's have a 'repair kit' in their (hidden) menu. I'm not sure if Sony has this. Anyone?

I did a quick search and some hits seemed to indicate that dead pixels occur in still cameras using a single CMOS sensor. I found nothing about the Z7 or S270.

There is a trick to get rid of the dead pixels on the LCD. I saw it in a thread in some forum, but I can't recal which just now.

Found the link to the thread...

Yeah, it's the thread I was talking about. But to my uderstanding they mean dead pixels in the CCD imagers, not in the LCD-monitor.

You could live with a few dead pixels in the monitor. Not so much in the imagers.

My tip was about a dead pixel(s) on the actual block itself-not the LCD monitor.

Thanks. I learned that there's a simple way to get rid of dead pixels - if any - on the CCD's of my PDW-F350: adjust the black balance.
