Re: Casino reloaded
Abandoned casinos, old mines, glass buildings....I'm jealous. You have some cool opportunity's. Do you want to see a cactus?

Hi Steve
...and lots and lots of sand??? My mate Tom Dickenson shot some rather nice footage there though? Isn't there an old mine somewhere? I'm sure he did one a while back!! Chris |

Re: Casino reloaded
VERY nice work Noa. Funny how an abandoned casino can suddenly seem beautiful. Just shows the power of the person behind the camera and the power of the primes. Nice work.

Re: Casino reloaded
ah common, don't tell me you all live in the middle of the dessert? :) It's all there, you just have to go out and discover and there is no need to travel around the world for that, sometimes beauty is just around your corner.

Re: Casino reloaded
That is very true Noa!
It's amazing what you find if you go out and look with a location in mind!! We have an old disused power station on the coast which is much the same and I often drive past but don't give it a second thought..It would make a nice shoot too!!! Chris |
Re: Casino reloaded
Hi Noa
I ordered my camera from SLRHUT (US based company) hence why I double checked if the camera was both NTSC & PAL, so it wouldn't be an issue but anyway, one of the customer services agents lied telling me it would be dispatched in 24-48 hours. I called them yesterday and they said it is showing up in stock on their virtual system, but they have to order it in from another depot. I asked them to cancel the order. I will be paying £200 extra and helping out the UK economy lol by purchasing from a british store next week when the refund reaches my debit card. |
Re: Casino reloaded
If you order from the US you will be paying custom duties and taxes and that can add up very quickly making the camera more expensive then buying in your own country, that's the main reason why I only buy from the US if I have no other choice.

Re: Casino reloaded
Arizona is a very beautiful state. I was camping by myself about 15 years ago when I stumbled across an abandoned mine. I'm talking about the kind that is an old tunnel, probably cut by one man with a lot of dynamite. I was about 50 yards back into it and it was still going. I did not make it to the end because I was so afraid I was going to come face to face with a mountain lion I ended up backing out. The truth is I got so scared I RAN out of it!
There are always things to shoot no matter where you are. That is the difference between an amateur and a pro. A pro does not choose his subject, he is chosen by it, or assigned to it. What he comes away with is what defines his talent. Amateurs are fortunate to be able to choose their subjects and shots. I am trying to find the amateur in me again that possessed the passion to make me a living in this business. Steve |

You will be very glad you did if it needs servicing at any time. Certainly Panasonic here in NZ will not cover warranty claims on an imported camera, and I would bet SOny are the same in the UK.You would have to send it back to the original purchase country. And then there is the import duty (customs ) and GST. (Edit:oops, VAT of course in UK) It cannot come in UK tax paid, so by default you are doing the right thing. Rod |
Re: Casino reloaded
I checked out the site and I can't find any reference of it being US based as there is a physical UK address in the contact section, it also says that taxes are included yet they do seem to sell without taxes as prices are quite lower then what you generally pay.
I also find it strange like Rod says that they can deliver from the US tax and custom duties prepaid, I at least always had to pay extra once it reach customs in my country. To me it sounds very fishy, a bit like these too good to be true stories. |
Re: Casino reloaded
I don't know how they do it. Im presuming they illegally declare the item with a value lower than $25 to avoid VAT / CUSTOM DUTY.
And the so called UK presence is a mail box / P.O box. Apparently, if you want to do a warranty claim, you mail it to their UK address who then forward it to the USA. They have many happy customers so I don't know. But having thought about it. Spending such a large amount of money, I would rather help out a business in the country I reside in, then spend it abroad even if the prices are very attractive. |
