Life of Sony Lithium-Ion Batteries
Hi All
I'm just fishing for you opinions/experiences/thoughts etc about the life-span of a lithium/ion battery. I recently read an article where the aurthor said that they were subject to failure after only a few years, perhaps tow or so. I hadn't heard anything like that before. Admittedly, the article was about digital cameras and not video, but he seemed to generalize about the battery type enough that I became curious. Anyone have personal experience with batteries failing? I've had none myself... |
They're good for about 200 charges---more, if you're lucky.
|
Frank, have you had one fail at that point?
|
I have two NPF-960's that were purchased in September 2001. They're still going great, although they don't get a lot of use anymore.
|
I personally have had no problems with these batteries. I got my trv950 early last summer and it stays on the charger unless I'm out filming. I haven't noticed any changes in its run time at all yet. Sometimes it goes for a couple days sitting on the charger and nothing has really happened too it. I know it's probably bad for my camera but I just get careless sometimes and forget untill I got to pick it back up again. = ]

I haven't yet have any fail, but I have a good supply of batteries---some are still new.
|
Frank, did that 200 charges info come from Sony? Usually Li-ion is good for at least 500 charges, and realistically, 700-800.

Here's a good link for info on lithium batteries. I've yet to try it though. Anyone already do this?
