regarding the 16:9 question Optex are having a stock clearance of their 16:9 adapter at a bargain price of 150 english pounds. I got one and would thoroughly recommend it.

I have a sony pd100, and i cant capture any footage on my computer or exchange footage to anyother camera. I thikn the firewire port on my camera is broken. Does anyone know how much this costs to get fixed??

I can't answer your question-To Fix it out of waranty you must call Sony to find out.

My Camcorder have the same problem after less than 6 months of using it. FireWire is still a mystique from What it should be "hot-swap".

I found these place having very interest thought of wire-fired.
I wish I could read them before

PD100 in Good Eats Episode?

Anybody a fan of Alton Brown and Good Eats on The Food Network? I was watching an episode this evening from 2003 (The Cookie Clause) and they were using what must be a Sony PD100. OK, they were using it as a prop, but I have to imagine with all of the oven, refrigerator and cabinet cams that he uses that the PD100 was actually a production camera at some point.

Just thought it was interesting.

Good Eats

I ahve also noticed these smaller cameras. I I do soem acting here in florida and have done a few reality style shows for big networks. They all use various prosumer cameras. Infact I was talking with a producer teh other day and she said the reason they use them is that a small prosumer style can quickly be ignored. This way the "talent" will forget you have a camera and their actions appear more natura. I know Good eats isnt a reality show but none the less the size and versatility allows for it use. Your also right that the in over and frideg shots are best accomplished with these cameras

The first 4 seasons of Good Eats were shot on an XL1... they are doing stuff in 24P HD now... not sure which camera but 24P has not been a hit with the audience...

It's all Sony. I know that from when I saw one of their cameras in a Wired article. They also use FX1s and Z1s too. Almost all of it on Steadicam to boot. What a wonderful world.

The older episodes looked great though, and these new episodes look purely incredible. Just shows what talented DPs can do on prosumer equipment!
