problems with 'powersafe setting' when savin to TRV950e from Windows movie maker

Hi, (thanks to user shmed i found this site and community (originaly posted at camcorderinfo.com) ):

I 'm having a problem with saving back to camera (trv950e) from windows movie maker (god forbid, i'll never work in this program, but this is to transfer my friends project to my mac).
The project is 1 hour long and when exporting, about 10-20minutes into the renderprocess (which wmm does only perform at save), the process is interrupted by a message : 'project not saved to dv' (which is very clear right? windows realy spoils one with clear indications of where it went wrong:mad

Could the 'powersafe-settings' of the TRV950E be at the base of it? :
When putting the camera in vcr-mode, it automatically switches off after some time (saving the battery). Can this be adjusted or turned off, or is this not the source to the problem? (tested it once with my friends jvc (don't know which type) and it didn't work either)

Thanks
Davedive

This is hard to pin down. But if this has happened with two different
camera's it sounds like the computer is the problem. Can you
export smaller pieces like say 10 minutes correctly?

Are you sure about the camera shutting down in VCR mode? That would be unusual. My VX-2000 will shut down after awhile when you put it in camera mode, but it will stay on until the battery dies in VCR mode. Same thing on my PDX-10. And I don't think that any camera will shut down while it's actually recording (unless the battery run out). I'd suspect the PC/software personally.

Why not try a test with the camera when it isn't connected to the pc? To answer your other question; no I don't think there are any menu options on the 950 that relate to "power-safe."

Had the same problem using WMM with my Panasonic 953. The camera powers down while waiting for WMM to do the render. The real problem is WMM. I tried to fool it by just leaving the camera off until the render was nearly completed but of course, WMM refused to do a tape render without seeing a camera on the other end of the firewire. I wish I had a solution also. But, I just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone with this issue and it's not your camera at fault.
