capture: Pdx10 to premiere

I have a sony pdx10 and have made a film using both xlr-microfones so itīs a good stereo on the sound. But when I capture the film into premiere ( pc ) through firewire the sound comes in as a monochannel and not as two tracks.
A friend with a mac and Final cut capured the film and he got two audiotracks.
I have trying different things on the pdx10 as well as in premiere, and asked around but hasnīt solve the problem yet.

anyone who knows?

Neither Premier nor Vegas is able to capture stereo from the PDX10. This has been reported to Sony without Sony taking any action. The only program I know of that is capable of capturing the stereo stream is Scenalyser (quite inexpensive) which can be found at www.scenalyser.com

This topic has come up before. It only affects Windows users however, and is somehow related to the firewire driver. Here are some other threads:

Thanks. Scenalyser works well.
If you want to record a movie onto the pdx10 from premiere is it then the same problem with the stereo sound? Anyone who tried?

Stero or Mono sound

I am thinking of buying a PDX10. There is a known issue with capturing stereo 16 bit sound to Premiere. Is there a similar issue when capturing to Pinnacle Studio 9 or Liquid Edition 6?

Mattias,

Simple answer - none what so ever. If you read all the threads that Boyd posted it will give you more of a clue as to what is going on.
And John - Yes.
Again the threads will answer your questions.
In the first thread that Boyd posted, in it I wrote:
I rang Sony about this because I was concerned about not capturing left and right channel in 48k. (It captures both at 32k)
The speed of the tape is not the issue.

They said it is not a fault but a deliberate design feature.
Other cameras that record stereo have a flag type message to indicate to the firewire that it is stereo.

On the PDX10, having two mono channels does not set this flag off and therefore records only one channel. This is of course only true of the consumer software (that includes premiere according to Sony) The advantage for the professional is a more controlled and superior sound recording. (supposedly)
