Just got myself a PDX10

Hi everyone!

I am new here so I just thought I would introduce myself. Recently I purchased a PDX10 after extensive research so I decided to join the forum. Even though I've been working in television for a little while and done numerous independent projects this is the first camcorder that I've owned and I'm excited!

Congratulations of the purchase Adam, and welcome to DVinfo! We'll look forward to hearing about what you're doing with your PDX-10.

Welcome Adam,

This is a great forum to ask questions, people here are very helpful.

I also look forward to hearing more from you.

Congrats! I'm sure you're gonna love the little cam...I know I love mine, even though I don't really know how to use it well yet. :-)

You mentioned you've been working in television; do you plan on using this cam for any TV work, or are you going to use it for something completely different?

Television uses

Yeah, I work in television. I am the morning and noon news editor at my station. I got the camera to do my own projects though, I have a long list of documentaries I want to. However, in the past there have been times that if I had a camera I would have been able to shoot video for a story. Several months ago I was visiting my parents, about two hours away from the station, when a huge factory complex caught fire. The factory was only a 15 minute drive from my parents, and if I had a camera we would have been the only station to have video of the fire. This is one of the things I was thinking of when choosing this camera. I wanted to make sure it would be able to easily integrate into everything at the station, so being that it can record in DVCAM format and DVCAM format is what we currently use here at the station was a major plus.
