vx2k: recover from standby mode

Hi,

Has anyone found a one-button touch way of bringing the vx-2k out of Standby mode without moving the Power switch or starting a record ? I've tried every button on the camera and the remote control. I can deal with the power switch toggles, but I'm wondering why the hell this thing goes into Standby mode even when I'm continuously fiddling with the Menu functions.

Leave the tape door open at it probably will not.

Most LANC controllers have a power function that will turn the camera back on.

The timer works off of tape motion. If the tape doesn't move, the timer will turn the camera to standby to shut down the drum. Saves the heads and the tape. (you probably know all that).

Taking the tape out is the only way to keep the camera from going to sleep.

Double tap the photo button after the camera shuts down and voila, it's up again. I read this in a BBC PDF on the VX2000 but hadn't tried it until I read your post. It worked! Would be a nice touch in the manual, wouldn't it? That and a million other things.

Wakey wakey

Yeah, I always tend to just hit the photo button midway, as if to "capture" a still while in camera mode, and that seems to wake it up. Sometimes when I know I'm adjusting around, I hit the button once in a while to let the camera know I'm still around.
