Is this a dead pixel?

I've just bought a brand new Sony PD150. I opened the box, turned it on and I saw a shiny white dot in the left bottom corner. I am no stranger to dead pixels because I saw them on my JVC DV500 before. I shot a short footage with the cap on, and although I saw the dot while shooting, when viewing it on the true NTSC TV, I didn't see that dot anywhere. I turned the camera on again, looked carefully and the dot didn't seem like dirt or anything like that. It's white and shiny. I turned on the gain and the brightness didn't seem to change. Please advise if this is a dead pixel or not. If not, what should I look into to get rid of it? Otherwise, I can just bring the camera back to the local store to exchange for another one.

Thanks in advance,
Lucas

If you cannot see the white dot in your TV, maybe the dot is crop. If the dot is visible on the LCD monitor and viewfinder, surely it is a dead pixel. If it is only showing in your LCD monitor, then the LCD has a problem but not a dead pixel.

Does it show up, both in the lcd, viewfinder and on your computer monitor with no overscan?

If so take it back... if not it is worth exchanging... but if it is not effecting your shooting, then you have to decide if you need to return it straight away... or not.

Personally i would just exchange it asap.

Thanks for the quick reply, Zac and Jun. The thing is, I really can't see the white dot in the LCD, only in the view finder. Anyhow, I know I'm exchanging it for another one. I'm not sure how difficult the salesman will be in situation like this. I guess it depends on how difficult Sony pressures on the vendors in terms of exchanging things. What do you guys think?

Since it is only visible in the viewfinder, it is not a dead pixel. If you are not comfortable, exchange it, you have the right.
