Over-ride focus on VX2000

Just a quick question for help.
I'm using the VX2000 with everything on automatic. If I then zoom into a face for example with the manual zoom and then leave the zoom control alone. Even though I am in automatic mode, will the setting that I zoomed into become a default setting so that whenever I zoom into the same face in the same place it will be focused already. thanks in advance.

As long as you don't turn the zoom ring or press the butterfly electric control, the zoom is indeed fixed. But if you change the lens focal length (zoom), you have no way of knowing when you get back to the same focal length.

AFAIK, you only get that with some of the later pro lenses on the big cameras. Canon calls it 'Shuttle-Shot' I believe.

Focus or Zoom?
 

I am learning myself, but if zoom (focal length) and focus are different, then if I understand Roy's question, you will need to lock focus on face to make it the "default" focus-- focus on face then move "auto/manual" slide swith to middle position to lock focus (away from camera and can't remember nomenclature of that switch for sure). Otherwise, if you leave camera in full auto and are panning around to objects at various distances camera will be re-focusing on each object and when you return to original face it will again need to focus on face. The downloadable BBC printed seminars referenced a few weeks ago in this forum has good ideas on this subject.
