Recording sound with XLR adapter

my PD170 is broken and I need to adapt VX2100 to record from xlr devices; how it works? will using XLR adapter disconnect on camera stereo microphone? Is there any way to record sound on 4 audio channels simultaniously? what are my options of phantom power xlr adapters.
thanks in advance

You'll need to buy or make a dual XLR to stereo mini 1/8 adapter. The only good way to get 4 ch. audio is to run your 4 sources into a mixer and mix them down to the 2 ch. inputs. Neither the PD170 or VX2100 have 4 inputs.

so when I plug in that 1/8" plug it will automatically disconnect the stereo mic
right?

In a VX2100 - yup. As soon as you plug a 1/8" plug into the mic socket, the built-in mic will turn off.

I bought a Beachtek to make it a bit more elegent, but in the end it was too bulky for me (makes the camera quite tall and affected the way I could hold it - especially with a Bogen tripod plate on the bottom of the Beachtek) and I ended up just sticking with my basic Rode mics without XLR.
