PD-150 vs VX-2000 sound

Couple of points about PD-150 sound.

1. The 150 supplies 48 volt phantom power. The $200 Beachtek will not do that although they do have a more expensive unit that will supply it for one channel.

2. The 150 will accept either microphone or line input levels

3. The 150 allows you to treat each channel independently with regard to levels, AGC, and line or micrphone input level selection.

4. The 150 will allow you to record channel 1 input on both channels 1 and 2 or just 1.

6. You can get a short wind screen from Rycote or Light Wave that will shield the microphone from very high winds.

That is a fair amount of sound flexibility.

another point

The PD-150 will not turn off if you leave it running without recording. It just turns off the drum so you can continue to view and operate the camera.

The downside is it takes a bit longer for the drum to spool up and be ready to roll. But lots faster than cycling the camera power as you have to do on a VX-2000
