Goodbye DVX100- hello PD-170
Just sold my DVX100 and ordered the PD-170/wireless mic combo from B&H this afternoon. My decision was mainly based on it's low light abilities beings I'm primarily a wedding videographer and it's overall reputation for this genre of shooting.
Just figured I'd say hello, I'm a regular here but will be seeing a lot more of me here now that I've gone Sony. I'm now in the midst of selling my existing GL-1 for a VX2100. |
Congrats on your 170. Im sure the Panny was a nice cam as well.

Welcome, Glen. The 170 is a workhorse and I'm certain you will be pleased in the use of it.

Seems like almost everyone was migrating FROM the PD150/170 to the DVX100. Why are you going back the other way?

The main draw for the camera is it's 24p feature. I purchased it for that exact reason- though I never ended up doing any 24p shorts with it. My wedding videography started to take off so I felt the PD-170 is more suited for that style of shooting.
Plus I really like the layout and feel of the 170. The zoom ring and focus don't feel sloppy. Plus the positioning of the audio levels is more convenient...I wasn't a fan of the tiny recessed dials. |

Mark G -->>> I think it very unlikely that almost everyone was leaving the 150/170. Filmmakers maybe but the 150/170 satisfy a lot of needs. |
IWork at the NBC station in Denver we have had a 150 in the field for almost 2 years without a hitch, this cam has balls nice video and very robust.
Good shooting Vince |
