You guys are killing me!
I came in here because I've got the bug to move from a GL2 to a VX2100. So I figured I'd do some research.
Now I'm convinced that I need a PD170! I gotta stop reading before I have to sell my house to pay for this stuff. :) Thanks for the good info so far. Now, anyone want to buy a GL2? ;) |
No, you need to spend $2K more for a DSR-250!

You live pretty close to me, I might show up on your doorstep with my family looking for a place to live. :) |
one pleasant surprise is that the 170 includes a wide adapter
also don't mess with cheapo vendors go straight to b&h |
It's hard to imagine buying in this range without getting native XLR inputs.
The price difference is real, though. Get the best that you can. |

I've also had two times in the last month where I was shooting for another production company (out of state company needed someone in my area) and they requested DVCam. Sure would have nice to been able to give it to them. I bought my GL2 when I started my business and it's worked very well for me. But I'm to the point when it makes sense to upgrade and this looks like a pretty good way to go. More research is called for, but I like what I see so far. |
Bryan-
How much do you want for the GL2? |
Gale,
I've sent you an email. |
