Hi Mike,
Thanks for the information. At the present time I have a VHF wireless lav mic that's worked fine for 2 weddings but I don't want to press my luck in the event someone actually offers to pay me. If I were to use a shotgun mic should I go with the XLR adapter?
Sincerely,
Doug

I'd always opt for a XLR adapter but I really don't believe that shotguns and weddings are a good mixture. Shotguns can miss sounds you want, they overload quite easily and they are generally fairly big.

I prefer a Cardiod myself for these situations. You can get nice microphones that will withstand much higher SPLs without distorting and they generally sound better.

If you have thousands to spend then there are some good shotguns but I'd still rather have a card.

In a rural area, a VHF radio microphone may be very adequate whereas in the city it could be a mess.

I never considered a cardoid mic. I'll check that out. Regarding the wireless lav: I do live in a rural area and that's probably why I've had good luck with the VHF unit. I'll check out the XLR adapters.
Thanks again Mike.
Doug
