Informative site for VX1000/2000/2100 users
 

I worry about the guy because he likes the Cobra Crane. I can tell you it is a bad choice for a PD150-sized camera. Makes me wonder about what else he says.

I hear ya man. But look at his demos, they ain't too bad. He seems to have some time in the industry even though I'm not a big fan of his tools. But it's still informative for the folks using these tools.

I worry about the guy simply because every sentence seems to end with an exclamation mark and he hasn't a clue when or where to use the apostrophe. If he didn't pay attention at school, is he the man to teach us?

I agree though. He seems to be a little overzealous about his gear. I think he just loves what he does like most of us on this board. The VXs are nice cameras but they ain't the shizzle no mo, just like my XL-1(s) ain't neither. They're also not the best selling point anymore either but I'm still paying for them damn it.

I noticed that this gentleman likes anamorphic lenses for 16:9. I've been thinking about the Century Optics 16:9 lens but price is a hurdle.

Anything positive or negative to report on these lenses with a PD-170? I know they won't allow full zoom but how about resolution?

Yes, I thought about the FX1 and the coming HVR-Z1 but I also thought about the total investment to upgrade hardware and software along with our need for multiple cameras. It would put us on the bleeding edge so I'll wait and see. After our first wedding with the 170, I've decided to go with a second and take advantage of the rebate. I just wish Sony had included native 16:9 with the 170.

Until there is an affordable and available consumer recording system, HDV isn't going to go far in the wedding trade or in most of my other business either. Some of my customers still don't have DVD players!

Now where HDV would be nice right now is when I need high-res pictures for covers and DVD labels. It would be nice to grab a hi-res picture from the video stream for that.

It sounds as if one can use the HDV cameras with a SD NLE, you just cannot get the hi-def. So if I were inclined to buy a new camera, I might consider the Sony Pro.
