DV mode on Sony PD-100a?
 
I know that you can record DVCAM mode on the Sony PD-100a, but can it record in regular DV mode as well?

Also if it can only record in DVCAM, will it play back tapes recorded in dv mode from my PD170?

actually the PD100a will only record in DVCAM mode. But it will playback both.
