Got a photo of your kitted out 150/170 ?
 

i've always been the proud user of the biggest cam out of everyone who goes to the gigs i film at, which feels great. nothing quite like walking past people with their $300 single chip cams, and then building up the 150 in front of them.

until someone turned up with the xl1s the other day.

now we all know they're both equally comparable, but i've suddenly got size envy! the fact the sony is so small is great, but people underestimate its power, and will immediately jump to the conclusion that the canon is a much better camera (and with a lens sticking out like that, you can't really blame them)

so does anyone have some choice pics of their 150/170 kitted out with an insane amount of accessories? matteboxes, big and multiple mics, monfrotto/vinten 5 tripods, light rigs, you name it! just something to make the thing so big you cant carry it by yourself! i need to reinstall the confidence, just for fun ;) the rig on saferseas.com is quite nice (even tho they photoshopped the 150 logo into 170 :p ) but real world pics are more fun :) mines only got a single mic and a 0.7x on it, so still a wee baby :)

(we'll see who the real winner is when the footage is shown side by side mind.. the fact i had a mixed feed from the desk makes me the winner by default i think :) )

Unfortuanately this isn't much, but I thought I would share anyways. Just the PD170 with AT-897 shotgun and sennheiser wireless receiver.

looking nice anyway and beats mine as i don't even have a good quality tripod to stick it on :( i did have a photo at my friends studio where i added two mics (shure sm58 and a sennheiser me66) and mounted it on a vinten 5.. made it look so much meaner :D i really want to get an OTT mattebox, but would probably find it utterly useless half the time, and would need to replace it with a lens hood (very close quarter filming at gigs)

yours looks awfully shiny and new too , mines slightly beaten up.. it actually fell out of my rucksack onto hard concrete the other night. didn't notice any new scratches or probs with it mind :) now thats build quality! my friend dropped a trv from his bed and smashed the outer LCD panel once.. doh!

Jeff, did that hotshow mount come with your Sennheiser wireless receiver or can it be purchased separately?

It actually came with an old Sony MS908C microphone. I just stuck some velcro on it and used it.

Is that a wideangle with the larger lens hood? I've been looking for that lens hood for my 0.7x, but haven't seen one in the UK :(

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I do a lot of wireless and the best I could afford were the Azden Pro equioment. The lens is a Sony stock wide angle. I was looking for a hood when someone suggested:

I was able to purchase a hood with French Flag and UV filter that attaches to the hoods threaded opening. this allowed me to protect the WA lens while still providing protection from the hood. It is not cheap so you may want to save up. All together it was around $200 altogether. Sony makes a hood for the wide angle lens now:

I saw in either this forum or camcorderinfo.com forum about a retailer in the UK that sold CAVision stuff but I can't find the exact link. Let me know if there is anything else I missed.

I use a wired lapel mic into input 1 for recording interview type setups.. Any reason I should leave the stock little sony shotgun into input 1 and the lapel to input 2?

I see pictures of your cameras with both mics, wondering the technical details of that, as I have a project coming up..

Once the VX2000 is loaded up with video light, Senheisser shotgun and radio receiver, big wide-angle converter, hoodman, lens hood and stabilising L bracket, it starts to look quite a piece of kit. Halfway down this page

I hope I can answer your question the way I think you are asking, but please feel free to correct me if I am wrong in my answer. My audio configuration is this: First is an Azden WLX-PRO Reciever:

I use this in combination with a lav mic for a second voice source or handheld for interviews:

The bottom unit is a Azden WDR-PRO True Diversity VHF Receiver. I use this with mostly the lav mic and always on a source that I want to make sure always comes in (like in the Groom, or a guest speaker).

As you have noted I also have a MKE-300 mic mounted for those audio sources I just cannot wire or to add a audience level to my track. All three of these sources are then tied into a Azden CAM-3 3-Channel Mic Mixer.

The mixer then has 2 options of connecting to the VX-2100 1)Mono cable 2)Stereo cable. Since I am using all mono mics I just use the mono cable. This disables the onboard stereo mic but all I have to do is disconnect it to regain my camera mounted mic. I can then control the sources for apporpriate levels using the mixer. Using this configuration I can just abou get what I need for aduio. I know it is not professional but it has been pretty good quality for the price. I am still saving up for the real deal. By the way, when I capture in Premiere Elements the audio comes out as one track on both channels. Please let me know if there is anything else I can add.
