If I Had A Nickel For Every Dead Pixel ...

Not too happy here.
In 2003 I lost a Sony 1CCD CAM to bad pixels. Some
call them dead pixels. Some call them hot pixels.
Don't know the exact correct term, but they're
little white spots that show up in the recorded
image. In the past year
I've lost two Panasonic 1CCD cams to
bad pixels, one of them
going down just last month. (I wrote about it recently
in the Panny forum under "Disappointed in how long
my Pannys are lasting".)
Now, come to find I've got two Sony
3CCD cams with bad pixels!!!!
One is just inside the warranty, and one is
just outside the warranty.
I'm wondering what others have experienced
with VX/PD pixel problems. And does anyone
have any thoughts about repair costs I'm
looking at with these Sonys?

If I had a nickel for every bad pixel on my sony's.... I wouldn't have any coins in my pocket :-) Seriously (I assume you're talking about the CCD's), I've had a VX-2000 for 3.5 years and a PDX-10 for 2 years. No bad pixels on either - or if there are I've never noticed them. Also no bad pixels on LCD panels or viewfinders.

Just sounds like a streak of bad luck.

I don't no of anybody who has a recurring problem with this. Maybe just a single case here or there.

What I'd do is waste no time in getting both back to Sony and ask them to repair the one that is just out of warranty at no cost.

Do they ever do that? It's a PD.
