Interval recording settings?

I would like to set my PD170 on a tripod and record some sunrise/sunset, cloud movement and other moving objects utilizing the interval recording feature. I'm unsure of what to set the "record interval" ( Options are 30 sec., 1 min., 5 min. and 10 min.) and "record time" (Options are .5 sec., 1 sec., 1.5 sec. and 2 sec).

I plan on using these scenes over a short 3-7 second period during broadcast. I want to show these objects moving but at a much faster rate than actual speed, if that makes any sense. Editing in FCPro if that makes any difference.

Any ideas or past experiences?

I would suggest you also set the cam to progressive record mode for time lapse purposes. The vertical resolution is much higher in this mode
