big cameras gain respect (in some eyes)

The VX2k starts off being quite small and light. I've just weighed the
basic package and it tips the scales at 1.52 kg with the silly 330 battery
but no tape.

But the anabolic steroid look soon comes about when you have a K6/ME66 on
top of it, stuffed up the ar*e of a Rycote Softie. Attached to the OIS
flank is the Senheisser radio receiver, and thick XLR cables snake their way
to the attached Beachtek DXA-4 bolted underneath. Then I attach the hefty L bracket to aid my hand-held stability and underneath that is the Manfrotto quick release plate. In the L bracket's cold shoe sits the 10/10 watt Sony video light, and velcroed to the front of that is the Lumiquest diffuser. A 960 battery powers that. On the front I often have the wide-angle converter with the big Cavision hood attached. Sticking out the back is the big 960 battery, and a Hoodman completes the package.

The all up weight is now a pretty impressive 3.97 kg - a long way from the
dainty 1.52 it starts out at. It certainly starts to 'look impressive'.
