VX-2000 direct to a DSR 11 VTR
 

What happens if I connect a VX-2000 and record direct to a DSR-11 vtr using a DVCAM tape? Get I a DVCAM movie?

Any info, previous experiences or comments about are welcome...

There is no difference between the DV and DVCam signal. The only difference is the recording details, the tape format. Once in the computer, there is no difference between video originating on either tape format.

So unless you like the longer recording time or you have a client that demands DVCam original footage, there is no reason to do this.

In conclusion what I will get in that way is more recording time with a single tape, as much as 270 minutes if MiniDV, or a recording time up to 184 minutes in a better tape with less dropouts and shrinkage risk if DVCAM....with a strong limitation in autonomy mobility of course...!!!!

Is that correct?

It is correct but the dropouts and shrinkage risk is more marketing hype than reality.

If you haven't already bought the 11, do also consider one of the disk-based recorders as well.
