Slow Playback

Guys,the manual for the PD 150 states,"Slow playback can be
performed smoothly on your camcorder;however,this function does not work for a signal output through the DV IN/OUT jack."
So does this mean that slow playback is only possible 'inside'
the camcorder? Don't mean to sound dense-just wondering if my
interpretation is correct.Thanks.
