PD-150 settings for NTSC film - what's best?

I'm prepping to shoot a feature-length dramatic film on a recently purchased, second-hand SONY PD-150, NTSC.

Unlike lots of the other films being done, I will not be shooting in PAL.

I want it to have a cinematic look. Aside from filmlooks and after effects filters that can be applied in post, I am seeking recommended video settings, shutter speeds, etc. that I can do tests with before shooting the film itself.

Any and all recommendations I would appreciate.

I do not want to open up the film vs. dv debate. I'm doing the DV route because I don't want an investor to own my film.

Thanks for all suggestions.

I suggest you contact the transfer house where you will have the video converted to film. They should be able to tell you what settings are best. Or you may have to shoot some test tapes and work with them.

I agree with Mike---go check out swiss effects website---they have a white paper on how to shoot DV for film transfer----
