advice
Hello,
I'd like to buy a camcorder in order to make short movies. What is the best cam between sony pd 150 and jvc dv 300? thanks |
Sony pd150. Why? Because that's what I have.

Welcome Luca
Despite the impression you might easily get on forums like this, what camera you use matters much less than just having a reasonably good, reliable camera at all. Within specific price ranges, today's DV cameras are all extremely comparable in features and quality.
So, just starting out, I'd recommend setting a comfortable budget for your first camera and getting the best product for that money. Also be sure that you leave room in your overall budget / plan for a good tripod, maybe a shotgun mic and a light or two. Good sound and lighting are just as important as your camera selection. |
I have a Sony vx2000 and I am very happy with it. I'm sure the PD would serve you very well.
From my experience, Sony makes a very well designed camera. They are also very reliable. I own 3 Sonys. A low 8mm, a high 8mm, and the VX. All have given me good service. I do own a JVC as well. It's one of those pocket size mini camcorders. It cost me about 1000 when I got it. It goes into the shop about once a year for repairs. It also is not as well laid out as a Sony. So, I've decided to stick with sony. Go with what you know. When the day comes that I need a Cannon, I look into it :-) |
