This footage is 50mb/sec. Should be 422 8bit, 1920 x 1080 59.94. It shjould be like PMW-100/160/200 footage in terms of the codec. The F55 is touting a global shutter. Ingest and see for yourself.

Can we get samples at higher shutter speeds, please? The motion blur is making it tough in some of the test shots to determine skew. The shots with higher mm lens counts is very tough to determine skew because of the blur.

A spinning wheel with lines might also be a good test for skew.

Also, flash photography is what we'd like to see to see if there's flash banding.

Edit: Went to a local dealer with the F55, set the shutter angle to 5.6 degrees, Set it to XAVC 1080p60, 18db gain, and surely enough, freezing the video during a rapid pan does not exhibit rolling shutter. However, I believe the OLED displays I saw the footage on during motion exhibited rolling scanning. When I froze the recording, the straight lines were indeed straight.

A desk fan would reveal rolling shutter. The fan blades will be distorted if there is any..... which there isn't on the F55 as each photosite on the sensor has a separate memory cell into which the exposed frame is read so that the read out scan can take place in the background, thus eliminating the skew. The sensor, although CMOS operates and is read much more like a CCD. The memory cells take up space on the sensor which is why it's less sensitive than the F5.

We got out a fan and attached a focus chart to it. There are four clips, shutter speed 4000, 2000, 500 and 120. This footage was recorded 50mb/sec to a SBS-16G1B (SXS-1) card. It should be 422 8bit, 1920 x 1080 59.94 and like PMW-100/160/200 footage in terms of the codec. HyperGamma 7, 3200k, ISO8000.

1st clip proves without a doubt it's a global shutter. The later clips are overexposed so it's harder to tell until the wheel spins down.

A side by side comparison with an F3 rolling alongside the F55 can prove it further. Add photography flash to the same test, and the results will be even more definitive.

This is S-Log2, ISO 1250, 1/48 shutter, 3200 degrees kelvin. The second shot has camera flashes so you can see how it handles that interference. This camera may not be used to shoot weddings, where camera flashes are prevalent, but red carpet premieres and other activities will have flashes. There is a black, white and grey card in the shot. It was recorded to a SXS Pro+ card and the file is 275mb.
