Actually, I think Pinnacle Studio has anti Vin Dieseling filters available. You can buy it for 29.95 as a plug in....

I swore I wouldn't add to this but.........it must be the lower mainland air.

I've also been noticing an issue similar to the Vin Deiseling effect. The strange thing is that this is not happening all the time but only when shooting forest scenery. After contacting Sony Canada they confirmed the phenomenon, calling it the Vin-Yeti-ing effect. They also hastened to add that it'SNOW big deal and that they're working on a fix.

LOL! Don. That Yeti really made me smile.

Thanks for all the witty responses to my terrible problem. You guys made me laugh harder than I did when I was photoshopping in those four tiny Vin heads. As it was my first post, I was worried that folks might find it a bit "Riddick-ulous". Seriously though, I am hoping this post gives a good laugh to those people who did experience initial problems with lens vignetting. Others have had problems with backfocusing / clip transfer software / rolling shutter / duplicate clips in FCP / handheld ergonomics / colour banding / handle zoom stepping / camera firmware functionality etc. Hopefully, as a group we can quickly compile a clear and concise "wishlist of fixes" for Sony. I encourage everyone to read and possibly submit suggestions to the " FIRMWARE UPDATE WISH LIST" thread that was started by Craig Seeman. Enjoy your new cameras .... the work I've seen posted so far is awesome!

Thanks a bunch for this thread, Craig -- we really needed it! Cheers,

Make sure you follow the patch directions very carefully or you can end up with Pitch Black. Don’t worry if you do end up with Pitch Black you can always use the Black Compress mode. Under no circumstances use Black stretch with Pitch Black that could be dangerous!

Glad this important thread wasn't closed. (Reminds me of the RED forum)... where bugs are more common than Vin Diesel's movies... sad on both accounts since I tend to like both great cars and cameras.... (actors?! Why isn't Vin in Rambo the remake?!) Isn't it a Sony Pic?
