Problems with focussing
 

Half way through a shoot, I changed batteries, next thing the camera would zoom in, but not zoom out, made no difference if it was the zoom on the grip, or the zoom on the handle, had to go manual.

5 minutes later all auto focus functions went as well. I figured out that the autofocus would work for whatever zoom position was selected when the camera was powered up. So if I set the camera wide powered off and on, it would focus. Manual focus was gone as well, and I definitely engaged the manual focus ring and switched to manual focus.

I pulled out the battery, and the backup battery, hoping to do a cold reboot of the system.

The only focus I could get was the focus when the camera powered up.

Took the camera in for servicing and they decided to call it DOA with 37 hrs on it, as the repair involved replacing the complete lens assembly.

I don’t know what caused this, but thought you would like to know.

BTW there’s always a silver lining, I found new ways to be creative with only a wide shot available, it involves getting really close!

My dealer replaced it on Friday. I wish I had backed up all the picture profiles, and the settings though.
