SxS card alternatives
Hi everyone,
Does anyone know if these cards can be used with the EX1? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820191058 It looked like it might work. I haven't tried it. Thanks everyone. |
Nothing outside of Sony and Sandisk will work unless and until there's a firmware update to the camera. At various times people from Sony said that will happen but such cards will still have to be "certified" by Sony.

No, I don't believe so. For the moment only Sony and Sandisk branded SxS cards can be used.
The problem with the Lexar is that (if I recall correctly) the write speed was really slow. So even though it implements the ExcpreeCard PCIe interface, it isn't up to par for use in the EX1. George/ |
i didnt know you could use sandisk cards? which ones? any links?
|
The product number is SDX-VS-016G-E101 for the 16GB and -008G-E101 for the 8GB. They are the same as the Sony's, including the price, apart from the branding (it's a red Sandisk sticker).
Availablility is limited and I've only seen them stocked in Germany and Austria. George/ |
bit pointless then really!
|
Hopefully just for now...

S-by-S
Bit of useless trivia: SxS stands for "Sony by SanDisk", or "SanDisk by Sony" depending on which company you're talking to.

As an alternative or addition to flash memory, and taking into account all the perils of using HDD, would such adapter allow direct to disk recording?

Yes but only in 25mb mode. If that is your intent I would rather get the Sony hard drive recorder.
|
And when can that firmware come??
Anyone know something?? |
there will be firmware within a week or so but unknown if it will support 3rd party cards. doubt it
