Another EX1 story

I have posted another short story done with my EX1. This is from the first real assignment I shot with the camera in January.

Hopefully most people won't be bothered by the religious nature of the story. It's just about helping people in need.

Commendable job Daniel. I enjoyed it. Your second opening shot could have been stronger on the audio had you recorded from the board or got a recorded tape or CD. Sometimes that's not doable. Great job nonetheless. Love the colors on the interviews and the clarity of the EX is making me impatient on my purchase. Only 4 weeks left :/

Monday,

Thanks. Yeah I had some audio issues on that trip. My wireless decided to go on the fritz in the middle of the shoot. Some of it I didn't notice until later in the shoot.

I couldn't get a feed off the board. What I was happy with was that all of the interviews were shot with available light. The EX1 is a great camera to have when you travel light.

Nice job Daniel.

One question, I often see vingetting on clips posted here.

On the interview with the gentleman in the light blue shirt in his office, there seems to be a vingnette.

Is is supposed to be there or is it the camera?

Thanks

Tim,

Yeah the vignette was done by Magic Bullet. The original image was perfect. No vignette. I have not noticed any vignetting from the EX1. Guess I got lucky.

Thanks for the comments.

Nice work Daniel! No need to apologize for the religious content of your piece. (Many posters have linked some very "unsavory" clips on these forums. Alleviated only be three Hail Marys, and two Our Fathers :)

I personally am a fan of the vignette look, when done in a proper and timely manner; and I think you balanced it correctly. Your framing of the interviews are also spot on. I do agree with Monday that the pastor's audio was a bit off, but not a big deal.

How'd you like Vancouver, and the surrounding area? Ironic that your piece was shot in Vancouver, as I am planning to visit my grandma there sometime in the fall.

Best,

Jeff,

Vancouver was nice though it rained the whole time I was there in early January. I want to go back when the weather is a little nicer!!

I wish that I had run a wireless mic off the house feed, but that wasn't available. I had to live with what I got off the built in mic. If I had a Sennheiser on the camera it would have been a little bit better. I hate it when my shotgun is longer than may camera.

Thanks for the feedback.
