Andrew, I cannot open the MP4 files in Premiere CS3. I have the latest update, 3.2. Any ideas? When I click File > Import and select an MP4 file, I get the following message:
unsupported format or damaged |
I can also confirm that the MP4 files cannot be opened with either IMtoo (no video) nor mpegstreamclip. I tried both of these on Windows XP. I was able to import the MP4 files into premiere, but only with the proper folder system intact. Trying to select individual 'orphaned' mp4 files doesn't work.

Craig, do you have any tips on how to use ffmpegx? Our editor is trying to use it to export, but is not having any luck.
Edit: I just got a hold of a mac, installed Clip Browser, and ffmpegx (and mencoder and mplayer), and when I tried to encode, the log give me this: could not open movie file It goes ahead and encodes the audio, however. What do I need to do for ffmpegx to be able to read the video stream in the ex1's mp4 file? |
orphaned files problem solved!
I am happy to report that I have solved the problem of the orphaned files. I've been able to restored the proper file/folder structure that the Sony Clip Browser wants, allowing me to import to NLEs that understand the native MP4 format of the EX1, as well as export MXF files that others needs, such as Vegas 8 & Final Cut Pro.
If anyone is interested in learning how to do this, let me know (that way I know that people are still paying attention to this thread; it's been kind of quiet recently)... |
