Extending EX1's Component cable?
 

I'd rather not use a fat 3-wire extension on RCA side, but instead extend the slim cable with proprietary Sony connector.

This is needed to be able to move the HD monitor with analog input farther from the camera itself.

Is there such thing as 6 or 10ft extension for EX1's Component out?

Haven't seen one. But I'm looking for a right angle adapter for that kind of connector the placement of the jack and the protruding wire interfere with handheld (well, shoulder mounted) operation. The manual calls it a component mini-D connector.

You can buy 3 wire RCA extensions that are not heavy like the BNC's I see around - 15 or 25'.

They are inexpensive and pretty convenient.

i buy them at my local electronics store but they are on the web - Electronics Plus. Must be plenty of other places though.

Somewhat related, a right angle connector helps with the space problem if you want to handhold (shoulder mount) the camera with a portable monitor. Here is one from BestBuy:

I'm planning to get that cable and cutoff the "A" Tip-Ring-Sleeve connector so that it fits in my Sony EX1. You can see it better in the larger image.

Finally got a great working, slim 6ft extension cable at svideo.com.

It has female RCA on one end, and male on the other - so no additional adapters needed to extend the original Sony cable from the RCA side.

They also have 12ft ones.

Looks great - black, excellent quality. Less than $13 with free shipping.

Picture quality is great - w 6ft extension cable length that I have.
