The peaking function on the LCD on the EX3 is absolutely superior to the EX1. You can be confident of focus all of the time with the EX3. The peaking on the EX1 gets in the way at times. Also, you can really block out all the external light on the EX3 viewfinder. Considering the price of a good Hi-Def portable monitor, the viewfinder on the EX3 alone is worth the upgrade.

Do many EX1 operators have problems with critical focus, then?

I also wonder if EX3 owners find the shouldermount design comfortable enough for extended periods of shoulderwork or do they use shoulder support systems.

nonsenese.

With the new 1.1 upgrade for the EX1, Sony did something.
The peaking function is REALLY sensitive now.

I'm able to see peaking in nearly dark. The older software would of showed no peaking at all in the same conditions.

I've owned many cameras. This has to be one of the easiest camera to focus.

For whatever it's worth, the AF works a LOT better with version 1.1 in the EX1.
