yeah my mic mount broke off my EX3 at the weekend without me knowing what had happened - must've knocked on something or other but absolute rubbish design like everyone else has been saying.
I tried talking with 'Prime' Support but to no avail. They say it doesn't come under 'mechanical failure' but I'd argue with that. Anyway they deny that there is any problem with this part and seemed to blame the issues that they had received from some users as misuse, i.e. picking it up by the mic or using too heavy a mic - excellent customer service eh? I think it's a Prime Support UK thing as I've heard a few other bad comments about them. So can I get this DM thingy in the UK? |
I don't much like the mic mount on my EX3 either (took it off some time ago as it's too wide in girth for my Rode NTG-3 anyway) but I believe it's actually "designed to break" if subjected to any real force, i.e. it gives, rather than your (no doubt!) very expensive shotgun getting bent? Just something to consider...

[QUOTE=Derek Reich;1033263The hard part was digging up the screws....[/QUOTE]
Hi Derek, it's been more than a year that you have written about that - but I would like to know, where you finally found the screws to attach the CAC-12 Mic-Holder??? I have it too and want to put it onto my EX1R - but it is true - where to find longer screws, the same size like the original Sony ones which are on the EX1R? Maybe you have two spare screws which you could put into an envelope? Thanks a lot for any advice. Jürgen |
