Hi Andrew,
To be honest I can't really tell as I only recently got my Macbook pro and FCP so have to learn how to use it properly before I can do some more serious comparison. However, I can tell that the footage obtained using the Flash XDR is cleaner and has less of what looks like very fine grain (not sure what is the professional term - gain is always set to -3.)

Just go to the CD site you downloaded Ofer's clip from, and download the "Green-screen" mxf clip.

Then open it in your NLE, and try some chroma keying !
