Plain stupid of apple. Very disappointing. They'll sell a lot of old 15" macbook pros.
Screwing a market they helped create.

Maybe they are being manufacturer agnostic by making both Sony XDCAM EX and Panasonic P2 users buy adapters to transfer their media.

Fujitsu > Mac?

What are they thinking. It's not just SxS users that will be annoyed but also the users of esata adapters etc.

Hi Alister - are you able to use your Fujitsu to ingest sxs into your Mac setup? If so, how?

Alister Chapman June 16th, 2009 02:56 PM

Two options:

ONE: Backup the cards to a USB drive or drives and then use Calibrated-Q on the mac and work with the native MP4's.

TWO: Install OS-X on the netbook. It can be done, but according to Apple's EULA that's not permitted.

I'm using option one as I find more and more that I need to share projects with non mac users. In addition in the future I don't believe that the FCP workflow will still be based on .movs, whether that comes from Apple or by Sony re-writting the Transfer Tool to work the way Calibrated-Q works I don't know. So by working with MP4's now my future workflow path is more open.

MBP 15" firewire?

Due to loss of ExpressCard on MBP 15" was considering a Refurb machine from Apple - but is there no Firewire on the recent models that do have ExpressCard? Seems crazy..

Refurbished MacBook Pro 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - Apple Store (U.K.)

As far as I know every MBP has firewire. Some only have a FW800 port but this is back compatible with FW400.

I picked up a refurb 15 inch from Apple last week. It only has Firewire 800. Apple store wanted 29.95 for the cable but Tekserve here in NY wanted $10.
