The only clips that will play out via Firewire are SP 1440x1080 clips. So in your case it will not work.

One suggestion would be to find someone on the board with an EX and a Decklink, AJA card or NanoFlash (or some other HDSDi) recorder. Send them the card plus a blank one and ask them to try dub it off for you. I'de offer but the postage would take forever.

I actually tried that copying to both a SDHC card and a Sony SxS card with no luck...

Alister,

I have a friend who has a BlackMagic SDI DeckLink Card on his MacPro that I think would be able to pull this in through the SDI Out on the camera and into FCP or the BlackMagic Import Software thing. Does this sound correct to you?

Anything is worth a try at this stage. Good luck with it

If the camera will play it then that should work. The Decklink card will be able to record the HDSDi feed to ProRes which you can then convert to XDCAM EX files with FCP or simply stick the ProRes file on a hard drive.

Good Luck.

I got into a similar jam a few months ago. A card wouldn't mount on my Mac, whatever way. But it IDed fine in the camera and I could look at the clips. Everything was there. So I quickly put a USB cable between the camera and the computer and imported them that way. Reformatted the card as usual and have used the card numerous times (filling it up every time) and no bad sectors or mounting issues. It was an SDHC with a Kensington adaptor.
