warming via picture profile

anyone know how or if it is possible to warm the EX3's image via picture profile settings. I think i remember there being a minus green setting but what i'd really like is to be able to have one or more warming profiles that i can switch to.

You bet you can. Those warming cards were great for cameras that don't allow you to access the color balance like the EX cameras do. I don't know if you have seen the Sony videos at

Sony | Micro Site - XDCAM EX

The one called "Sony Camera Tips - Uncovering creative possibilities with Jaun Martinez" touches on this subject - I can't remember if its in part 1 or 2 but I think it is worth watching. Actually all the videos on that site are worth watching.

I think you will need to experiment to get the results you're looking for. I also believe the closer you can set your camera to the look you want in the final output the better your final image quality will be because you are making this color modification before compression takes place. Plus it should makes less work in post - as long as you are sure of the look you are trying to achieve.

It's funny on eBay they're trying to sell a warm card specifically for the EX1. Don't need it. Just put +5 or so on your white balance adjustment.

The one thing that I miss from my old V1U is completely manual white balance. I wish EX1 had this without having to go through layers of menus. Sometimes I want to tweak it just a little and I didn't have to do an Auto White Balance nearly as frequently with the V1U.

Maybe I'm not following your statement very well, but there is a completely manual white balance function on the EX1 that is merely the push of one button, no menus. Put a white card in front of the camera and push the white balance button on the front of the camera and it calibrates the white balance quickly.
