What does Update Media do?

the owner's manual has no info on this subject. on my EX1 in the OTHERS menu, under the Clip menu lies an option to Update: Media A, Media B. what does this do?

thanks.

I don't know specifically what it is designed for (maybe my use of it is), but if you do a transfer of a file back to the SxS card using XDCAM Transfer etc the clip won't appear to the camera on the card until you have run the update media option. Interestingly I have noticed that when I have exported files back to the SxS card they have appeared in the root of the card. So I suspect that Update Media creates a new folder inside the BPAV directory for the new clip.

huh, that sounds like a good answer.

When you delete a clip folder under the BPAV folder on a computer without using the clip browser software, metadata for that clip is still present in the MEDIAPRO.XML file.
The camera detects that the clip is missing and updates the MEDIAPRO.XML file to remove references to it. It may also work the other way round when a clip folder is added.

When you Update Media it adds the Title Prefix and the Number Set to the SxS card effectively changing the default clip title. I don't know if it has any other purpose but that's how I use it.
