there's actually a rebate on the 16GB version until the end of the month from that same retailer. depending on how many cards you purchase the price for each 16GB card could be as low as $90.00 US each which is a 1/3 of the price of the 32GB card.

"any thoughts on this class 10?"

We have tested Sandisk Extreme 16 and 32GB cards and they run very well in the EX1. They are clocking between 17.86 and 18.64MB/s as compared to the Sandisk Ultra 16GB at 11.87 and the 32GB at 12.12MB/s.

That is a ton of headroom on the card.

I haven't had the opportunity to test the Transcend 16GB Class 10 cards yet, but have them on order and should have them later this week.

I also tested Lexar Platinum 16GB and would say the performance is identical to a Sandisk Ultra 16GB.

The Lexar Professional 16GB performed exactly the same as a Sandisk Extreme 16GB.

1. We completed testing with Transcend 32GB Class 6 card and here are the results:

a. CrystalDiskMark 2.2 - Sequential write 10.88MB/s

b. EX1 performance - at 720 /25p able to sustain 35-40fps

c. EX1-R performance - at 720 /25p able to sustain 50fps

2. Completed several runs from start to end of card, small and big clips, random deletes etc.
All pass at 50fps, not 60fps.

3. Conclusion : Transcend 32GB Class 6 SDHC in MxR and e-LCR in EX1-R : PASS.

4. Still slower than SxS in overcrank but a lot more headroom than under EX1.

does a Lexar Professional 16GB SDHC card even exist?

have you tested the Panasonic 16GB Class 10 card?

you may have already answered or posted this response, but i'm curious to see what you think of the SanDisk Extreme III 16GB Class 6 cards.

thanks,
Mike

i find it odd that the 32GB Class 6 cards work just fine, but the 16GB cards don't. apparently the 16GB cards use to work just fine, but lately people have been reporting that they don't, especially the "red stripe" cards.

thanks for letting us know,
Mike

SanDisk 16GB Video HD SDHC Memory Card

Oops! I just checked my notes again, it was a Lexar 8GB Professional that I was testing. I transposed the size from the line above when I was testing the Lexar Platinum. Sorry about that.

I haven't tested Panasonic Class 10 cards at all. The first lot of Panasonic cards we tested, which were their fastest cards we could get hold of a year ago, were well below usable levels for the EX1.

But Class 10 Panasonic is a whole new thing. I wonder why the Panasonic 32GB Class 10 would be more expensive than the Sandisk 32GB Extreme Class 10?

I've actually been happily using this: SanDisk 16GB Ultra II SDHC SD Memory Card which is officially Class 4 - 15MB/second (100X) read speed, 15MB/second (100X) write speed

for a couple of months now and it's been fine.
