Avid Media Composer does in fact recognize DVCAM (yes - this is what Sony calls even the non tape based version of the format) as AMA media. You have to use ver. 4.05 for this to work though.

Giannis - I would recommend going to the Avid Download Center and upgrading to V4.05 - it is free for V4 users.
