Lens Flare- Century .75 Wide Angle

I recently purchased a Century .75 Wide Angle Lens adaptor for my EX1. My only complaint is the amount of lens flare I'm getting while filming. I shoot mostly documentary type stuff so I'm looking for a solution that is less cumbersome (and expensive) than a mattebox.
I've tried the lens hood/matte box system that Century offers for this lense and it vignettes. Has anyone tried this lens hood from Cavision? Cavision Wide Angle Lens Hood for 105mm Lens
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Two cheap solutions:

1. Don't go full wide;

2. Black Foam Core Eyebrow/French Flag taped to the internal mic housing sticking out in front of the handle (many don't use the internal mics).

This is not a smart alex joke. Foam core (or black wrap) makeshift matteboxes are often used on sets when either one isn't available and they have light spill on the lens or on a Steadicam when the weight of the rig has been exceeded.

I have got a replacement Century .75 wide angle that now vignettes on my Chrosziel mattebox. I simply don't go quite as wide when I have to use it. The barrel distortion on that lens adapter is significant, so being forced to throttle it back isn't such a bad thing in my view.

The new Century .75 MKIII for the EX cameras appear to go wider than the previous models so I would beware of getting the Cavision wide angle hood unless you can try it out first. I also doubt it would be effective in reducing flare by a significant margin.

We here at Schneider are working on an updated version of our 0VS-SS05-00 Wide Angle Sunshade that will work with the EX1/EX1R/EX3 without vignetting. The current version of the shade will not vignette at slightly less than full wide in TV Safe Mode but full zooming to the maximum wide angle setting is still out of reach.

We hope to have this soon but the current version does work at less than full wide which will still give you 20%+ wider than the existing lens:

Good news Ryan.

On a personal note thank you Ryan for looking after my lens issue a few months back. Very impressed by the responsiveness of your company in rectifying things.

Thanks Andrew. As you suggested, I was originally using a flag to solve the wide angle flare, but it was too cumbersome and tended to get knocked around during my hand held shoots. (Which is most of what I do.)
So I went ahead and ordered the hood from Cavision. Unfortunately, right out of the box the Cavision hood vignettes just like all the other hood shades and matte boxes I've tried with the Century .75 Lens. The difference is price - It's only 70 bucks, so I took a file to it and modified it for that lens. It now sits about 5mm further back on the wide angle lens than it was intended to. It works well now. No vignetting and the hood reduces the majority of lens flare i was getting.

Any word on the 0VS-SS05-00 update?

Hi Ryan,

Is their any new status on the revised sunshade?

Thank you,

William
