do Hoodman Loupe users remove camera viewfinder?

Hi there,
I'm a devoted user of the Hoodman Loupe for my EX-1, and I realized yesterday as I moved the on-top viewfinder out of the way (my right headphone competes for the same space) for the umpteenth time that I'd actually like to remove it completely.
Has anyone else done this?
Is there a good reason not to (that I'm not aware of)?
thanks,
Malcolm

Took mine off and haven't needed it since. To protect the lcd, I made a cover out of a piece of plastic from an old SD card case.

thanks for the note Michael. Can I ask... where's the screw (or where are the screws) that I should take out to detach this viewfinder? I know I can slide the top part of the viewfinder off (by holding the release slider down), but I was thinking I might take off the whole thing.
Cheers, Malcolm

removing viewfinder

You can remove the eyepiece by pushing up the slider under the viewfinder and sliding up the eyepiece. I would not advise removing the whole viewfinder as their are some delicate connectors involved and you could have some serious dust issues. As stated you will then need to cover the screen to protect it.

Thanks Neil. Good advice.

I've been using mine today for the first time.
And you're right, the eyepiece is in the flippin way.

Looks like it'll be getting ripped off as I've literally never used it.

Duncan.

... and yet yesterday I had to shoot in the pouring rain. I had to use my rain cover (Petrol I think, but can't remember) for the first time, and it wasn't made for my Hoodman loupe set-up (which, of course, sticks out the side). So, after my anti-viewfinder rant of the day before, I found myself using the darn thing!
I think I'll just leave it in place, and have the right-side of my head re-contoured slightly.
Malcolm
