View MP4s with Windows Media Player?
Is there a way to view XDCAM MP4 files throught Windows (7) Media Player? I can see many different types of files, but the only way I have found to see MP4s is through Premiere, FC or Sony's Browswer... but there are times that you just want to see a thumbnail of the vid, and that seems impossible right now.
Any way to do this? |
I don't think there's a plugin to support MPEG-2 in .mp4 wrapper for WMP. You can use VLC though. There's a plugin you can buy from CalibratedSoftware which will allow you to see those mp4 in Quicktime Player.

Interestingly, WMP will play the MXF for NLE as re-wrapped by the ClipBrowser - even though it displays the message (which you can disable) about not recognizing the format...
But this is limited to the native EX files; the mxf's coming from the nanoFlash do not play in WMP. As Craig said: VLC is the answer (for both mxf and mp4). |
2 years ago you could download MXF Desktop at Snell & Wilcox (they are not into to filmbusiness), but now I can't find it on their site.
I enables Windows Mediaplayer to play MXF-files. Search the web for MXF Desktop and you will find a solution! |
Get the VLC Media player. It should play MP4s.
