Adjusting EX1's CA-Correction
Hey everybody!
Sometimes i get very intense CA with my EX1, especially when zooming in completely. As far as i know the EX1 has a software-CA-Correction - is it possible to adjust/recalibrate it? I cant find anything in the manual, but it says nothing about the Service-Menue anyways... Thanks for your help! Here is a Stillframe with, what a suppose is pretty ugly CA: http://www.nhx-music.de/stuff/EX1-CA.jpg (Iris almost closed, Shutter 90°, no ND Filter, no Sharpening, zoom 99) |
Re: Adjusting EX1's CA-Correction
Your CA is not that bad, compared to some shots I have seen. I use Photoshop CS5 Extended edition to correct CA in footage - it does a pretty good job on correcting the problem.
As far as I know, I think the CA correction on board the camera is a factory pre-set. Take a look here, I posted this a while back http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdc...-question.html |

That's your problem right there. On the EX1 you should NEVER go smaller than f/5.6 and shutter should be 180 degrees unless you're shooting in very dark surroundings. Between f/2.0 - f4.0 should be your target zone. Get control of your iris, and the CA will mostly disappear. Your footage will look much better and you won't waste time in post correcting problems that simply could have been avoided by choosing different settings. |
