Hi Marcus

Are you running XDCAM browser V2 on your mac..?

Thanks

2.1 . Seems fine so far. Have to say I don't use the software for anything more complicated than copying files to hard disk though so milage may vary.

I would say its nice to see Sony software not collapsing in a heap at the sight of an OS upgrade, but frankly all Apple have done is charge users for a service pack.

Still can't complain. Got mine for free!

I already tested XDCAM Transfer (I think version 12) on it, worked without a problem.
Loading off SxS cards trough an Sonnet Echo Pro to a MBP 13". No compatibility problems.

Re: Mountain lion experiences?

Mountain Lion is a lot more than a service pack. There are some very real open GL and core API changes that make much better use of the GPU for graphics work. That's why apps like CS6 are smoother and snappier. The notification and sharing functions are very nice. There's also scene kit, a new core 3D api for 3D rendering,so some nice under the hood improvements.

not going to lie, I really thought this was a thread to to discuss filming mountain lions, and what to do if they attack

Re: Mountain lion experiences?

If they attack, make yourself big..... and chase them away with an axe....
Happened just north of us to a fellow i worked with. He lived....

How effective would crapping yourself be? Because that's what I would most likely do first!

Sorry, I couldn't stop myself from commenting.

This would known as leaving a deposit .. rather than paying for the full up grade

Re: Mountain lion experiences?

FREE - how are people getting the upgrade free?? Please let me know...

The fee to upgrade is obviously not going to break the bank - but free is still free...

a looks like there might be a power consumption issue with ML eating through laptop batts much faster than SL. Lots of reports starting to appear of dramatically reduced battery life and hot laptops.

To obtain a free upgrade you need to have purchased a new Macbook in the month or so before the new release.

Ironically mine turned up a couple of days after release but with Lion on it.

Shot several hours yesterday, all transferred in smoothly and now editing.

This is a link to a free upgrade form for Mountain Lion.

Re: Mountain lion experiences?

The link above is not the correct link. It's just a PDF from a reseller and it is missing vital information. Try this link from Apple instead:

Apple - See if you qualify for a free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade.

As you can see the actual offer is any qualifying purchase on or after June the 11th. But be quick as time as running out.

Re: Mountain lion experiences?

I really don't want to re-inact that scene from Marathon man by drawing up a trolley full of bits of sharp metal beside an OS, wash my hands over and over again and ask this, but....

"Is it safe?"

My install of Snow Leopard did unto my FCPX Events what Zed did to Marsellus in Pulp Fiction over a Pommel Horse, and maybe that's what you get for carrying a stable well behaved OS from one Mac to another - it goes very bad indeed. (SFX: Katana being sharpened)

SO... For somebody who needs FCP7, CS6 and most importantly, XDCAM Transfer, and when I look at Mountain Lion...

IS IT...

[he plucks a scalpel with a definite 'POING' sound effect]

SAFE?

(the threat implied is actually directed at Lion - FCPX has gone all 10.0.1 again with random \'quit me, mouse boy\' issues like chromakeys that just don\'t work, and track mattes that don\'t]

Please, if you\'ve used XDCAM Transfer and FCP7 in Mountain Lion to good effect, pass it on! :-D
