Convert your PMW-300 to a shoulder mount camera
I spotted this out there on the tubes, and thought it was worth mentioning.
The NIPROS ST-7S300 Shoulder Mount Rig. Product details: NiprosAM Another page of stuff on it: NIPROS - Professional Video & Audio Tools - And a YouTube clip: I've shown this to my local video gear supplier. They think it is great and are trying to locate an wholesaler. Can't find any proper pricing for it yet, but I did read somewhere that it might be about $1400USD. Best thing is that you would be able to store the dismantles parts for it in an airline compliant gear bag, alongside the camera itself. Andrew |

Re: Convert your PMW-300 to a shoulder mount camera
I spoke with the folks who distribute it when I was considering buying it but $1200.00 was too steep for me especially for something that has never been reviewed. I can tell you that from my experience with the Shape baseplate I did buy that the shoulder position would be the same and therefore I think that regardless the viewfinder would be very tight to the eye. I asked them to send me one for a couple of days to test and shoot with so I could review it. The said they didn't have stock at that time. But I welcome them to get someone to do a proper review. I think that if you are going to ask $1200 bucks for a support that is exclusive to one camera unlike the Vocas or Shape or Zacuto products, a proper demo and review is in order.

Similar to my thoughts that they would have to definitely be making a profit on that one.
$1200 does seem a bit steep for what could be simplistically viewed as a few bits of aluminium with screws. Andrew |
