PMW300 XAVC Format
 

Hi.

I just upgraded my firmware for my PMW300 to Ver 1.30 allowing Long GOP XAVC_L recording.

Has anyone used or foresee see using this format in the near future? I cant imagine that any broadcaster or production company here in New Zealand would even know or even heard of this format.

Where might this fit?

I really hope this is not the modern version of HDV. The format lost between formats. Those that used HDV will know what I mean.

Hi,is the the very latest firmware just released. Where did you find it. I can only find I. 2 over here. Is there any other added features. Mick

UPDATE - Have now found the link to the update. Looks like its the only added feature.

XAVC_L enables 1080 50p/60p recording in HD XDCAM cameras. Unfortunately, not on the PMW-300.

XAVC_L is for file size efficiency and 50mbps 10bit 4:2:2 capability. The first Intra update only offered 100Mbps XAVC at 10bit 4:2:2.
