Edit: had to use a other browser, "no images where found, probably due to the damage from the crash", so basically this means if you are shooting a video inside a rocket that crashes you and your card are scr*wed.

There is nothing wrong with using a Windows machine to recover data (unless you're trying to recover an HFS formatted volume, but the same holds true if you're trying to recover NTFS on a Mac), and this video says nothing that bolsters your assertion.

And OSX is notorious about writing things to a freshly inserted SD card that isn't write-protected.

I talked to the sony guy today, overnighted the sxs, he will have it tomorrow, 2 days max. they dont charge a penny to do this. id rather trust them with the sxs card than try and find something, especially since they arent charging me to do it.

well sony said they couldnt recover it. these other places that were mentioned, would they be very likely of recovering the footage or basically if the guys that manufacture the product cant, then noone cant?
not sure if the others use a better/different method of recovering.

Why not call the third party places and see what they say? In my experience (which was only once), they didn't charge to evaluate, only to recover. So, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Hi Jim - I'd be interested to hear how you're going with this.

Today I did the same thing - accidentally deleted the files in the camera, thinking I had already copied ...

I did find some recovery software called Jihosoft Photo Recovery, which identified all the lost files by the correct names, and "recovered" them as MP4 files, but I cannot find any way of reading or playing them.

They are the same size and name as the originals, but without all the smaller files that are recorded onto the SxS by the camera.

Have you had any success?
