Sony PMW-EX1 Firmwares?
 

Hi Everyone,

Wondering if anyone has a copies of older firmware for the PMW-EX1 or know where I can download. Before I sell this camera off for parts, I'd like to try downgrading the firmware to see if it will help.

I have tried resetting all settings in camera and taking out the clock battery. This fixed one of the issues, however only temporarily.

I don't know how old this particular camera is, but it does have v1.30.

I have the following "VersionUpTool_PMW-EX1_1.20(Win)" also the Mac version. Dated 2010. Let me know if they are of any use to you.

I'm willing to try anything software wise that can be done by the user. I thought about replacing the SDI board myself, but it looks a bit more complicated than taking the Z1U apart. I took that apart to replace the component output connector.

Very disappointed. I thought I would be happy with the component output but it just seems too soft compared to the other cams in the church, which are all HDMI to SDI.

I guess I should have asked first if it's possible to downgrade or does anyone know how to. I tried to but it says "the connected device has already been upgraded."

Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe Sony service centers have the ability to "downgrade" the EE-PROM in most of the cameras with the special software/hardware tools they have or by replacing the EE-PROM itself. Well beyond most of us I would suggest.

Well that's disappointing.

I did do some self diagnostics and found a few problems.

1) - Type 2 - Item 1 - Lens Driving Check fail
2) - Type 2 - Item 3 - test completely freezes.

Along with the SDI output not working.

I checked a few places sounds like an expensive repair :(.
I'll try it a bit more. If not it will go on ebay with noted conditions.
